Ottawa, ON. – Fire water rescue crews were busy Wednesday night pulling a car out of the Ottawa river, near Cumberland.

Ottawa Fire’s Marc Messier tells 1310News they received multiple 911 calls from people who saw a car go into the water off of the 174 between Trim Road and Quigley Hill Road, and no one knew whether or not there were people inside.

The rescue crews were able to pull the 2008 four-door black Buick to shore, but didn’t find anyone inside.

Ottawa Police took over the investigation and later discovered that the car had been stolen.
