OTTAWA, Ont. – Ottawa Police have wrapped up a month-long crackdown on speeding and unsafe cycling.

Police laid almost 2, 000 charges through the City of Ottawa’s Selective Traffic Enforcement Program also known as STEP.

Police laid 358 cycling safety charges and 1623 speeding charges during the crackdown.

Police say speeding and a lack of safety equipment like bike lights and
bells were the most common infractions.
