OTTAWA, Ont. – Women dressed in little clothing, inappropriate language and a certain smell filled the air at Lebreton Flats Tuesday night.

Hip-hop was the theme of Day 7 of RBC Royal Bank Bluesfest with a lineup that featured two big names in hip-hop music, including headliner Snoop Dogg.

Former Fugee Lauryn Hill, who pleaded guilty to tax evasion, was over half an hour late for her performance at the Claridge Stage.

The show was supposed to start at 8 p.m., but at that time the DJ was spinning some tunes on stage with a drummer joining him.

It continued for 37 minutes until the rest of the band took to the stage and at the 41 minute mark Lauryn Hill joined them. She performed for an hour and 15 minutes, which meant Snoop Dogg’s set had to be cut to just under one hour.

When the Dog Father of Hip-Hop was able to take the main stage, his 59 minute set included scantily clad dancers and even a few breaks in the set for him to smoke marijuana.

In spite of starting 33 minutes late, he did not break the City of Ottawa’s noise by-law and wrapped up his set by 11:02 p.m.

Wednesday’s headliner is punk rockers Bad Religion, who will hit the main stage at 9:30 p.m.
