OTTAWA, Ont – Two people are in hospital after a single vehicle rollover near Stittsville Wednesday morning.

Ottawa Paramedics said the vehicle was found in a corn field near Shea Road and Fernbank Road just before 2 a.m.  

Karim Gazal, 17, was thrown 20 metres from the vehicle and paramedics found him unresponsive. He was taken to hospital with a severe head injury and life threatening multiple system trauma.  

He remains in critical condition at the Ottawa Hospital’s trauma unit. According to CBC, he is in a coma, after surgery on his brain and liver.

The female driver, 38, is in hospital in serious condition.  She suffered serious abdominal and spinal trauma.

Ottawa Police are investigating.
