GATINEAU, Que. – A man struck by a van travelling in the wrong direction on Alexandre-Tache Boulevard in Gatineau Sunday afternoon is fighting for his life.

The man, 24, originally reported to be 30, is in critical condition in hospital.

Gatineau police had originally reported he was dead, but have since retracted the statement.

The driver, a 44-year-old Gatineau man was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

No charges have been laid.
