OTTAWA, On. – The city’s burn ban and open air fire bylaw continues through this dry spell and officials are taking a zero tolerance approach.
If you’re caught, you will be fined.
At a City Hall news conference Monday afternoon it was noted that citizens need to be vigilant after the recent brush fire on Moodie Drive and the grass fire that destoryed a home on Hopewell Avenue.
Water use was also on the agenda as some areas in this region deal with level two drought conditions.
“Ottawa residents who get their water from the central drinking water system should feel free to fill their pools and water their lawns, gardens and trees,” says Councillor Steve Deroches.
Deroches adds that you use your water wisely and save the water for the plants and not the driveway.
Those in the Rideau Valley and South Nation however, are being asked to reduce their water consumption by 20 per cent.
The town of Almonte remains under an outdoor water ban.
Zero-tolerance for those breaching fire bans and by-laws
