OTTAWA, Ont. — A 26-year-old Ottawa man is wanted on four counts of attempted murder in a shooting Wednesday night on Fisher Avenue.
Hussein Mohammad is described as Middle Eastern, 5’6″, 140lbs, with medium length, dark brown hair and brown eyes.
Police were called to the scene just before 11 p.m., where they discovered a bullet hole in a parked vehicle and two spent bullet casings in the area. There were no reported injuries.
It’s the second shooting being dealt with by the Ottawa Police Guns and Gangs Unit within a week.
Just after 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, shots were fired between two speeding cars at Blair Street and Station Blvd, near Coronation Park.
Witnesses have been coming forward to police, who so far only have a vague description of the suspects. One of the vehicles was found a short distance away from the scene.
”These guys are getting more brazen,” said Staff Sergeant Mark Patterson of the Guns and Gangs Unit, following the bold daylight shooting.
“It’s a cause of concern for us. We don’t want an innocent bystander to get hit or lose their life.”
While it hasn’t been confirmed, Patterson told 1310News he believes Tuesday’s shooting is gang-related.
“Preliminary suspect information would suggest that we know who these suspects are, because we’ve had dealings with them in the past.”
There was a total of 23 shooting investigations in all of 2011. So far this year, there have been 27 shootings, more than half have been gang related.
