OTTAWA- Ottawa Police have the suspect from last week’s shooting on Fisher Avenue in custody.

26-year-old Hussein Mohammad, from Ottawa, turned himself into police on Wednesday.  He is charged with four counts of attempted murder and a number of firearms offences.

On July 18th, shots were fired on the 1100 block of Fisher Avenue.  Police were called to the city’s west end around 11 p.m. and found a bullet hole in a car and two bullet casings at the scene.  No one was injured.

Mohammad makes a court appearance on Thursday.

There were 23 incidents of gunfire in 2011 in the capital.  So far for 2012, there have been 27 shootings and more than half involve street gangs.
