OTTAWA, On. — Ottawa paramedics responded to five cardiac arrests in the city Friday evening..all within an hour and a half.
Three of the patients survived but two were pronounced dead on scene.
Just after 7 p.m., paramedics were called to a home near Conroy and Hunt Club, where they found a 66-year-old woman who’s heart had stopped.
Maxim Nadeau, Acting Supervisor with Ottawa Paramedics told 1310News, it was too late to save the woman by the time crews arrived on scene.
A 70-year-old man found in his home was also pronounced dead just before 8:30 p.m.
Meanwhile, two bystanders jumped in to help two different patients.
A 50-year-old man who suffered a heart attack while playing soccer in the west end received CPR from his team mates until paramedics arrived.
And bystanders found an 88-year-old man on Chesterton Drive in the west end.
They also began CPR while waiting for paramedics.
Also, a 44-year-old woman had to be resuscitated by paramedics at a west end mall.
She along with the other two men both arrived at hospital with a pulse.
