ELLIOT LAKE, Ont. – Scores of residents of Elliot Lake, Ont., are expected to attend an informal session Wednesday with the commission of inquiry into June’s fatal mall collapse.
Provincial politician Michael Mantha says the burning question for most people is whether the tragedy that claimed two lives was preventable.
Residents will have to wait about a year for those answers — once the inquiry has reported its findings.
Today’s session is to give people a chance to let the commissioner and his lawyers know what’s on their minds.
The lawyers have spent the past few days getting to know the town, including a visit to the collapsed Algo Centre Mall yesterday, peering at the rubble through the emergency fencing.
