Bonuses awarded to senior public servants will undergo review, Premier Dalton McGuinty has said.
Nearly all eligible managers in the civil service received performance-related bonuses last year, despite the province’s $15-billion deficit.
“If everyone gets pay for performance, it’s not pay for performance,” McGuinty said. “It’s pay.”
The premier said the system needs to be evaluated.
Almost 98 per cent of the 8,900 civil servants received the bonus, totalling nearly $36-million.
