Ontario homebuyers consider safety, perceived value and a location close to amenities the key factors when purchasing a home, according to a new survey.
The Ontario Real Estate Association (OREA) found that 93 per cent of Ontario residents consider safety, such as a low crime area or building security, important when considering a home.
“Security, both physical and financial, is top of mind for Ontarians,” OREA president Ron Abraham said in a news release.
The perceived value of the home was a top consideration for 85 per cent of survey respondents while 80 per cent want a property to be close to amenities, such as shopping and transportation.
A move-in ready resale home was most preferred by survey respondents.
About 20 per cent of Ontario homebuyers want a newly build but nearly 40 per cent would prefer a move-in ready resale home.
