It was a party in Perth on Saturday afternoon as residents welcomed home three Olympians that competed at the London 2012 Summer Games.

65-year-old equestrian athlete Ian Millar, hammer thrower Sultana Frizell and judo competitor Nick Tritton received a warm welcome at the Crystal Place, which is across from the townhall.

Known as Captain Canada in the equestrian world, this was Ian Millar’s 10th olympic games, which is record setting.

“When I look back on these Olympic games, I have pretty good feelings about what I and my horse Star Power achieved,” said Millar.

Sultana Frizell placed 14th in the women’s hammer throw qualification, but said her result was not what he expected. This was her second time around and said she continues to have great support from the community.

“It’s really motivating to compete for Canada and Perth. It puts Perth on the map and makes me excited to be from here,” said Frizell.

Judo competitor Nick Tritton was defeated in the elimination round, but is thankful for the encouragement he has had.

“It’s hard to make it without town support and coming back to this is amazing,” said Tritton.

Millar and Frizell hope to go to Rio for the next summer games, while Tritton will decide in a few months if he is physically and mentally ready for another four years.
