Three people including a two-month-old baby girl were killed in a collision between a tractor trailer and a van on Highway 401 between Morrisburg and Cardinal, Monday morning.

Ontario Provincial Police identified the three victims, who were pronounced dead at the scene, as two-month-old Moriah Gloria Warren, Elissa Reid, 22, and Sheila McGlashen, 78, all of Chateauguay, QC.

The three died when the 1986 Chevy van they were traveling in collided with a tractor trailer. Three others in the van were transported to Winchester hospital and then Ottawa’s Civic Hospital in serious, but non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the tractor trailer, Sergey Lucin, 44,  was treated at a Cornwall Hospital and then released.

Truck drivers who frequently travel along the highway from Montreal to Toronto tell 1310News incidents like this one can be avoided.

“Texting and cell phone talking is still a big thing along highways. It’s not always the fault of either the car or the truck driver, it’s mostly people that don’t pay attention, one or the other,” Andre said. ” It actually makes me scared when I see them that one day might be my turn.”

All lanes on the 401 were closed while emergency responders worked at the scene, but have since re-opened.
