AYLMER, Que. – A 48-year-old groom faces numerous charges including attempted murder after attacking his bride at their wedding Saturday night.

Gatineau police said they were called to the Chateau Cartier Saturday night, after a woman, 36,  was attacked by her partner, Jorge Sanchez.

Sanchez allegedly punched the woman and threw objects at her before taking off.

“The attack was far from over when we arrived,” Sgt. J.P. Lemay with Gatineau police told 1310News. “While we were actively looking for him, he came back at 12:10 a.m. and stabbed her with a broken beer bottle.”

The woman was rushed to a Hull hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

She had severe lacerations on her back, chest and mouth.

Sanchez is also charged with aggravated assault, and making death threats.
