Thousands of students are flooding the city this weekend, as college and university freshmen move into their dorms for the first time.

Including returning students, thousands of young adults will be arriving at residences across the province with bags in tow, ready to settle in to their new abodes before kicking off the new school year.

With the students will undoubtedly come traffic jams in school areas, as everyone rushes to get settled in before hitting the books.

University of Ottawa is the 5th largest university in Canada with more than 28,000 students enrolled in 2011.
Twenty-five hundred will be moving into residence within the next three days, starting at 9:00a.m. Saturday morning.

Carleton University may be smaller, but is expected to be almost as busy as the University of Ottawa.

Two thousand students will be moving in starting at 9:00 Saturday morning, with Carleton President Rosanne Runte there from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. to  welcome students.

Meanwhile, police across the province say they’ll be focusing on safety in school zones in the coming weeks

In many communities, police say officers will be instructed to take a zero tolerance approach to enforcement.
