OTTAWA, Ont. — Ottawa City Council will be updated on the 174 sinkhole at Wednesday’s council meeting, more than a week after the crater opened up and swallowed a car.

Orleans residents have been forced to find alternate routes around the gaping hole, which forced the closure of the eastbound highway between Montreal Road and Jeanne D’Arc Blvd. On Monday, OC Transpo added another four buses to Orleans routes to help ease the congestion.

Sections of replacement pipe have been arriving from Toronto over the last few days, as crews work at replacing the damaged sewer line.
