Gas prices rose 3.4 cents at 12:01 a.m. Sept. 12, to an average price of 133.0 cents/litre at most Ottawa gas stations.

Please note: Gas prices have become very volatile because of a change in the way oil companies set their prices, thus making it more challenging to predict gasoline prices.

Things are worse in Montreal. Prices there soared by about 13 cents a litre.

That puts the price of regular in the Montreal area at just under $1.53 a litre, an increase of almost 20 cents since the start of summer.

Gas price watcher and former M-P Dan McTeague can’t see a reason for the increase, other than a money grab.
