OTTAWA – Hundreds more federal government jobs appear to be on the chopping block.
The union representing the civil servants says nearly 600 of its members working at Human Resources and Social Development Canada today received notices of possible layoff.
The Public Service Alliance of Canada says another 149 RCMP employees were also told they could lose their jobs.
PSAC vice-president Chris Aylward calls it another sad day for the union’s members and for people who rely on federal services.
Most of those affected at the Human Resources Department are stationed in the National Capital Region.
The potential RCMP cuts are spread across the country and include forensic lab workers.
