OTTAWA, Ont. – The roller coaster ride of gas prices continues.
Gas prices are expected to drop 6 to 6.5 cents/litre at 12:01 a.m. Friday, to an average price of 1.28 cents/litre at most Ottawa gas stations.
The dip follows an 8 cent/litre spike earlier this week.
“Oil companies jumped the gun and attempted to anticipate what would happen in the United States with stimulus spending,” said Dan McTeague with Tomorrow’s Gas Price Today. “Oil companies had no choice but to drop those prices unless they wanted to destroy more demand, which hurts them in the long run.”
Last year at this time, Ottawa motorists were paying roughly 1.24 cents/litre.
