OTTAWA, Ont. – It may be a good idea to gas up before midnight!

Gas prices are expected to rise 2.2 cents at midnight Friday, to an average price of 130.1 cents/litre at most Ottawa gas stations. Another 1 cent/litre rise is expected at midnight Saturday.

The increase comes one day after a 6 cent drop at the pumps overnight Thursday. By Sunday, the average price of gas in Ottawa will be at least 131.1/litre.

“The decrease and the enthusiasm over lower gas prices may be short lived,” said Dan McTeague with Tomorrow’s Gas Price Today. “The volatility in the commodities market, including crude oil and reaction to the United States Federal bank stimulus announcement, is pushing the increase.”
