It’s the last weekend of the Toronto International Film Festival, and there is plenty planned to celebrate the success.
The closing night film, Song for Marion, starts at 8 p.m. at Roy Thomson Hall. Legendary actress Vanessa Redgrave and Terence Stamp will walk the red carpet before the world premiere.
The comedy-drama tells the story of a curmudgeonly retiree (Stamp) who must take his wife’s place in the local seniors’ choir when she falls ill.
After the screening, the closing night party will kick off at the festival’s heart at King and John streets.
The TIFF awards brunch takes place on Sunday at the InterContinental hotel on Front Street West.
The festival hands out prizes in a handful of categories, including best Canadian feature film and best Canadian short film.
Past people’s choice award-winners American Beauty and Slumdog Millionaire have gone on to dominate at the Academy Awards.
The 37th annual film festival runs until Sunday.
