It’s day three of the NHL lockout, and formal talks on the league’s labour front are not expected until at least Wednesday.
Deputy commissioner Bill Daly and union special counsel Steve Fehr are expected to speak informally, Tuesday, to figure out the next steps in the process.
The two sides haven’t met face-to-face since last Wednesday when the NHL countered a union proposal with a time-sensitive offer of its own.
The NHL locked out players Saturday night when the old labour agreement expired.
Some players have already moved to Russia’s KHL, including Evgeni Malkin and Sergei Gonchar.
Nearly 400 players went to 19 different European leagues during the last lockout eight years ago when the NHL lost an entire season to labour unrest.
This is the NHL’s fourth work stoppage in 20 years.
NHL labour talks could resume Wednesday
