Gas prices dropped 5.7 cents overnight Tuesday, to an average price of 124.9 cents/litre at most Ottawa gas stations.

“The world is in a lot of trouble right now,” said McTeague. “Whether it’s Asia or Europe or the United States, demand is nowhere near where is was.”

McTeague says because drivers are cutting back on fuel consumption, oil companies have been forced to trim their prices.
