OTTAWA, Ont. – A 20-year-old woman is recovering in hospital after she wound up spending over an hour in the Rideau River.

The incident happened just after 10 p.m.Wednesday near the Cummings Bridge.

The Ottawa Fire Departments Water Rescue Team pulled the woman from the water and brought her to paramedics, where she was treated for mild hypothermia.

Paramedics warmed the woman up and her condition improved from serious to stable by the time she arrived at the hospital.

The investigation continues.
