Some positive financial news for the Canadian economy.
New car sales were up 6.4 per cent for September year over year according to Desrosiers Auto Consultants.
Dennis Desrosier tells 1310News, European vehicle showrooms were the busiest and virtually every european car maker is poised to post big profits.
“All of this growth is on the import nameplate side of the industry,” Desrosier said. “B.M.W is going to hit a record this year for sure. So is Mercedes…Audi is just blowing the doors off”.
Desrosier points out that most of those vehicles are built here in Canada.
He also sees a rosy future.
“We consider in the auto industry 1.5 million units a good year and 1.6 million units a great year,” said Desrosier. “We’re right now tracking at 1.7 million units.”
Desrosier says pent up demand, low interest rates and rising consumer confidence for the jump in car sales.
