OTTAWA, Ont. – Gas prices are expected to fall by 4.5 cents at midnight, to an average price of 127.4 cents/litre at most Ottawa area gas stations.

“It’s a reflection of the fact that market prices are dropping for fuel and crude,” said Dan McTeague with Tomorrow’s Gas Price Today. “Our petroleum industry is simply playing catch-up given that we are still paying nine to ten cents/litre above world prices for fuel.”

McTeague told 1310News that high gas prices have a lot to do with the country’s major refiners and wholesalers, who he says are advocating a policy of making sure prices remain significantly higher in Canada than in the United States.

He expects another decline heading into the weekend.
