OTTAWA – It is one of the biggest days at the Ottawa Mission and the Ottawa Senators are helping to make that day special.
Alumni Shean Donovan and Jason York put on their jerseys and brought 20 turkeys on behalf of the team to be served at the mission’s big Thanksgiving dinner on Monday.
“You don’t realize that you are fortunate to have what you have…and some people are not as fortunate. I think you have to keep conscious of that,” said Donovan.
After dropping off the turkeys, the two also met with people outside the mission and signed a few autographs.
“It’s a great thing to come down and spend some time with the people,” said York.
The Ottawa Mission will be serving 2500-2800 meals on Thanksgiving.
Officials told 1310News donations are slightly down, so they are encouraging people that now is the time to give.
