OTTAWA, Ont. – The Thanksgiving long weekend is upon us!

Thanksgiving falls on Monday, Oct. 8. this year and below is a list of what’s open and closed.

Retail & attractions

Grocery stores are closed, except for the Loblaws and Metro on Rideau Street. Loblaws is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and the Metro is open 24 hours.

Malls are closed, except for Rideau Centre which is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. On the Quebec side, Les Galleries de Hull and Les Promenades de l’Outaouais are open.

Shoppers Drug Mart stores are open.

Beer Stores are closed however, some LCBO stores are open. Click here for more info. Most SAQ stores in Quebec are open.

Most shops and restaurants in the Byward Market are open, along with most Ottawa museums and the National Gallery.

Most of Ottawa’s museums are open and so is the National Gallery.

Banks are closed and there is no Canada Post service.  

City services

No garbage, recycling or composting on Monday.  The pick-up schedule for the rest of the week is also delayed by one day.

OC Transpo is operating on a Sunday schedule.

Some pools and recreation centres are open, but with modified schedules.

City Hall and Client Service Centres are closed, but 311 service will be open for emergencies.

The Provincial Offences Court is closed.
