OTTAWA – Students and community members are serving up a traditional turkey dinner at Sir Guy Carleton Secondary School.
This is the 21st year of the thanksgiving celebration for those less fortunate or who are alone for the holiday.
“These people have no food. They come here feeling hungry,” said Amanda, a volunteer for 5 years. “They have a meal and feel like today was a good day.”
Students are serving the turkey dinner, and have set up a table of donated clothing and distributed non perishable items.
“I’m here to help the people have a good Thanksgiving,” Monica told 1310News. She said she wanted to do her part to give them the Thanksgiving they deserve.
Last year, 1000 meals were served and organizers expect the same this year.
