OTTAWA, Ont. – A memorial bike ride to honour Danielle Nacu was held Thursday with over 200 attending.
Danielle was killed on October 11, 2011, while cycling on Queen Street near Metcalfe during morning rush hour.
A person opened the door of their parked car as Danielle was cycling past, knocking her into an oncoming vehicle.
She had no vital signs when emergency crews arrived at the scene.
Since then, Danielle’s ghost bike has been parked at O’Connor and Queen Streets in her memory.
The memorial bike ride got underway at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the corner of O’Connor and Sparks.
