OTTAWA – A family of three including an infant is homeless after a kitchen fire in a rowhouse in the Herongate area.
Ottawa fire told 1310News, the blaze broke out around 7 p.m. on the second floor-unit of a 3-storey home on Cedarwood Drive.
Nobody was home at the time except for the family’s dog which was exposed to heavy heat and smoke.
It was rescued from it’s crate and taken to the Alta Vista Animal Hospital for treatment.
The damage is estimated at $115,000 dollars.
Just after midnight, a woodpile fire extended to the roof and attic of a bungalow on Weyburn Street near Industrial Avenue.
Fire crews had it under control in just over half an hour. Damage is estimated at $200,000.
