OTTAWA, Ont. – Dairy farmer Bruce Paul is being credited for saving the life of cyclist Jennifer Leonard.
Leonard, 44, was found on the side of McGee Side Road on October 9th. Her family is crediting Paul for saving her life.
The driver of the car, 34-year-old Trevor Clarke, failed to remain at the scene. Police tracked him down and he was arrested and is facing charges including of impaired driving causing bodily harm.
Police found a broken side mirror at the scene that was believed to be from the car involved in the collision.
Later that day, police received a call about a possible impaired driver. Clarke was pulled over and police noticed that his car was missing a side mirror similar to the one they found at the scene.
Paul was driving his tractor along the road and spotted the woman on the side of the road and he stayed with her until paramedics arrived.
The victim’s family say she had brain surgery on Friday.
Police say her condition has improved but she remains in hospital in stable condition.
