BROOKS, Alta. – The new managers of X-L Foods’s troubled meat-packing plant in Brooks, Alberta say they’re taking immediate action to ensure the facility can stay in operation.
Bill Rupp — the CEO of JBS USA — also promises to listen to workers who have concerns about the way the plant is run.
The plant was shut down four weeks ago when an E. coli outbreak led to a massive beef recall.
The outbreak sickened 16 Canadians.
Rupp says it’s important to be accountable to the public, and workers shouldn’t be afraid to speak up if they see something wrong.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency restored the X-L’s operating license last Tuesday and the plant is expected to be back in operation in three days.
JBS USA boss Bill Rupp says he and his team will listen to workers who have concerns about the way the XL Foods plant will be run
