A stretch of the Trans-Canada Highway that was eroded by heavy rains in a Northern Ontario town may be re-opened within days.
Wawa Mayor Linda Nowicki says it’s expected that the southbound lanes of the highway will be re-opened by Monday.
She says no one could have predicted the heavy rains that washed away sections of the highway on Thursday.
Nowicki says the northbound lanes of the highway are expected to remain closed for another week as crews repair 15-metre holes in the road.
