Ontario’s former deputy premier George Smitherman has decided to bow out of the race to succeed Dalton McGuinty as provincial leader of the Liberal party and the premier of Ontario.
In a press release, Smitherman said although the challenge exites and energizes him, a return to active politics isn’t compatible with his personal objectives.
He did thank friends, family and supporters for their encouragement.
