MONTREAL – Close to 1,000 police officers are being deployed this morning in a massive raid against an alleged nationwide narcotics trafficking ring.
Authorities say several searches and arrests are expected in roughly 30 municipalities in Quebec, Ontario and British Columbia.
They say the sweep targets a drug trafficking network linked to organized crime.
Quebec provincial police, Montreal police and RCMP are working together in the investigation.
Investigators say they will release more details about the raid at 2 p.m. at the Quebec provincial police headquarters in Montreal.
