TORONTO, Ont. – Toronto police say an arrest has been made in connection with the mass shooting on July 16 at a community barbecue on Danzig Street.
Shyanne Charles, 14, and Joshua Yasay, 23, were killed in the shooting, which took place at a community . Police described them both as “innocent bystanders.”
Twenty-three other people, including a toddler, were also wounded in the shooting.
Chief Bill Blair will be updating the investigation at 10:30 a.m.
Police have linked the Galloway Boys gang to the Danzig murders. Two men have already been arrested in the case — alleged Galloway Boy Nahom “Gifted” Tsegazab, 19, who was charged with reckless discharge of a firearm, and Malvern man Shaquan “Bam Bam” Mesquito, 18, charged for allegedly uttering threats ahead of the shooting.
Police said gang members from Galloway and Malvern have been “at odds” for years and the two groups aren’t supposed to venture into the other’s territory.
