OTTAWA, Ont. – An elderly man is recovering in hospital after a fire at a single family home Thursday morning.

Fire crews responded to 8532 Mitch Owens Rd. just before 4:30 a.m. to find the home fully involved.

The man, 65, managed to escape from the home before crews arrived. He suffered burns to his head and forearm and is being treated for smoke inhalation in hospital.  

There is no word yet on damages or a possible cause.
