Camp Fortune will open one run on Sunday, making it the earliest start to the ski season in a decade.

All of the runs are grassy and muddy, except for one stretch of hill, blanketed with fake snow which opens at 9 a.m.

“Our customers are die-hard skiers and snowboarders, so we’re doing it for them,” says Camp Fortune co-owner Bob Sudermann.

He says the last time the hill was open in this early was 2002, when slopes were ready for skiers on Nov.9.

And although the temperature is set to warm up next week he says he’s not worried.

He says the overnight temperatures are enough to keep the snow on the ground.

“If it’s 18 degrees come in a bikini or a Speedo,” says Sudermann with a laugh. “It’ll just be a great day to be out skiing … knowing full well that that’s probably the last warm day we’ll see.”

Sudermann says if it gets sunny, he’ll be zooming down the hill wearing a pair of shorts.
