OTTAWA, On – The career criminal who carjacked the widow of murdered Ottawa Police officer, Eric Czapnick, has been designated a dangerous offender and sentenced to five years in prison.
30-year-old Kevin Ransdell robbed and carjacked Anna Korutowska in June 2010.
It was the latest offence in a lengthy criminal record that includes assaults, robberies and break and enters.
The Crown had argued for an indeterminate sentence; however, the judge opted for a five-year term and during that time, Ransdell must get counselling for his drug and alcohol abuse.
He will also be under supervision for ten years.
