OTTAWA-A fire in west Ottawa has completely destroyed a home, causing $400-thousand in damage.
Ottawa Firefighters were called to the bungalow on Flewellyn Road, near Dwyer Hill Road, around 7:30 a.m. Sunday.
Once on scene they found heavy black smoke coming from the basement.
Ottawa Fire’s Marc Messier tells 1310News there were two people inside the home when the blaze broke out. While they got out safely, an 84-year-old woman was treated for smoke inhalation.
The fire started in the basement and caused extensive damage to the main floor area making the home unsafe to enter. The cause has yet to be determined.
