OTTAWA-Ottawa Police have identified the man killed in collision with a moose on Highway 417 as Mounir Hamaoui of Laval, Quebec.
Hamaoui, 68, was killed and his male passenger, 20, suffered non-life threatening injuries when their vehicle collided with a moose on the 417 westbound between Anderson Road and Walkley Road.
Crews were called to the scene around 6:45 p.m. where they found the car on its roof; the two males were trapped inside. The car had collided with a moose and then went into the median before flipping over onto its roof.
Hamaoui was pronounced dead at the scene.
The passenger was conscious and talking to crews during the extrication and was treated and transported to hospital by Ottawa Paramedics.
Police originally reported that Hamaoui was 80-years-old but later clarified.
