OTTAWA – As the Israeli-Palestinian conflicts escalate, protesters are planning to gather for a second time in front of the Israeli Embassy at noon on Friday.
About 50 people gathered outside the embassy downtown Thursday night calling on the violence overseas to stop.
What started off as a peaceful demonstration escalated quickly with many chanting “down, down, Israel.”
Demonstrators huddled together and lit candles which represented peace, prosperity and independence.
“The way we like to show our support is through candles. We want Gaza to be a safe place. We want Gaza to be independent and we want Gaza to be yet again peaceful but with the growing tensions unfortunately it’s not the case,” said demonstrator Hassan.
As more protesters arrived, a building manager came out and erected a gate in order to keep demonstrators from entering the embassy grounds.
