OTTAWA-The food truck scene in the capital is about to get a major boost, as the city prepares to add up to 20 new spots for street vendors in 2013.
Foodies interested in opening a mobile restaurant have until January 4th to apply, the winning restaurateurs will be selected by a panel of experts.
Mayor Jim Watson says the city wants to move away from the traditional “street meat” trucks and chip wagons, and line the streets with creative, pop-up-restaurant style cuisine.
He says they hope the new vendors will open in time for next summer.
