OTTAWA, Ont. – A pizzeria owner in Ottawa-south is looking for help tracking down the man who stole his poppy box.

Sam Karkache, who owns Lorenzo’s Pizzeria on Arch Street, caught the culprit on tape when they broke into the restaurant on November 12.

Karkache told 1310News he was saddened by the idea that someone had stolen from veterans, calling it pathetic.

“What is sad about it is that somebody would stoop that low to steal from the people that actually gave him his freedom,” said Karkache.

Karkache says he hopes that by posting his photo someone will recognize him, and that he’ll keep putting out the donation boxes.

“Just because you got a person who doesn’t respect other people’s property – that’s not gonna stop me from doing what I think is right.”
