OTTAWA, Ont. – Members of Ottawa’s Transit Commission have been updated on the status of the Presto smart card system from Metrolinx, the Government of Ontario agency that administers the system.
The City of Ottawa will be able to launch 10,000 Presto cards this January, but the full system roll out will be delayed another three months past the Febuary target, until at least April 17.
Metrolinx has trimmed $3-million off of the $25-million price tag because of the ongoing problems and delays.
The electronic smart card system was supposed to roll out on Canada Day, but the launch had to be delayed because of glitches.
City to roll out partial launch of Presto cards in January; full launch delayed again
