BUCKINGHAM, Que. — A safe with $50,000 in rare Canadian currency was stolen from a home in Buckingham this fall, and Gatineau police are hoping the public will help them track down the thieves.
Sometime between 2 p.m and 8 p.m. on September 12 of this year, the thief or thieves broke into the home near the Buckingham police station. They grabbed three jewellery boxes as well as the safe, which had the cash and a number of rare older Canadian $20 bills from 1954 and 1969.
Gatineau police told 1310News they have exhausted their resources trying to find the culprits and are hoping the public will be able to point them towards the bills and the thieves.
Anyone with information is asked to call Gatineau police.
