OTTAWA, Ont. — Ottawa police are working with officers in California to find a young mother from Arnprior who hasn’t been heard from since last week.

Constable Marc Soucy said Sarah-Jane Stavenow, 26 was visiting Los Angeles, and took off from the Ottawa airport on Friday Nov. 16.

“We have confirmed with American Border Services that she did land in California, using her passport,” Soucy told 1310News. “Once she arrived in California, she did contact her family, but since then there’s been no contact.  She was reported missing on Nov. 19, and the American authorities are assisting with the investigation.”

On a Facebook page dedicated to finding Sarah-Jane, her mother Suzanne Andrews-Sylvestre posts, “Please pray for Sarah’s safe return.”

A post to the 1310News Facebook page, sent on behalf of the family, desperately begs Stavenow to get in touch with police.

The post says Sarah was to contact her fiancé Ryan when she checked in at the Ramada Hotel, which never happened. It also says there has been no activity on her credit card since she left and her phone seems to be turned off.

Stavenow, who currently lives in Ottawa with her fiancé and their seven-year-old son, was due to return home Wednesday morning.

Soucy said a check by Border Services confirmed that Stavenow has not crossed back into Canada using her passport.
