With the holiday season here, provincial police and MADD Canada launched the festive Holiday RIDE program early Saturday morning.

An estimated 216 people will be killed by impaired drivers across the country this festive season.
 
OPP inspector Dave Springer warns that you’re going to start seeing more ride programs throughout the city.

Springer will be joined by MADD Canada’s Gregg Thompson who says the number of fatalities are still too high after 25 years of campaigning against drunk driving.

Last year, officers across Ontario charged 682 motorists with impaired driving during the festive ride program.
